Alocasia zebrina is part of the Araceae family. They have arrow shaped leaves that are slightly concave with noticeable veins and adorn the beautiful striped petioles. A.zebrina is from South East Asia and grows in tropical rainforest. This plant makes a real architectural statement.

Secrets to success


Temperature: Warm - above 21 °C in summer and at least over 18°C in winter. Ideal temperatures are between 20°C and 30°C.


Light: No direct sunlight; bright indirect light is best.


Water: Keep potting mix moist. Water very sparingly in winter.


Air humidity: This plant prefers higher humidity, between 60-80%, this can be achieved by using a humidifier, grouping plants together or placing the plant on a tray of watered pebbles.


Re-potting: Re-pot in spring every year.


Propagation: Divide plants at re-potting time.
