Stromanthe thalia 'Triostar' is part of the Marantaceae family and is a cultivar, S.thalia is native to Brazil. Leaves are oblong to lanceolate, the upper surface of the leaf blade is variegated with shades of red, green and white, while the underside is burgundy-pink. New growth tends to be creamier-yellow in colour and matures to become more white.

Secrets to success


Temperature: 18-26˚C.


Light: Diffused light, morning sun and afternoon shade.


Watering: Prefers to be damp but allow to dry a little before watering.


Air humidity: High humidity; this can be achieved by grouping plants together, misting, using a humidifier and placing your plant on a tray of watered pebbles.


Fertilising: Feed once a month during the growing season.


Potting mix: A peaty mix with perlite and sphagnum moss.


This plant is non-toxic.
