Platycerium alcicorne 'Staghorn Fern' | Root Houseplants

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Platycerium alcicorne but everybody calls me Staghorn fern. I have the most unusual striking leaves called "fronds"  and my anatomy differs from that of most other common houseplants -- even other ferns.

DETAILS

I’m in a 12cm pot and I’m 30cm in height.

LIKES

I prefer a temperature between 10-20°C with average room humidity. I need bright, indirect or diffused light to thrive, though I must be protected from the harsh rays of the direct sun. Don't forget to use fetiliser throughout spring and summer.

DISLIKES

I don't like under or over watering. Water me depending on my environment. If its humid then water me less or if I'm in a spot with more light or heat then water me more.

LOOKING AFTER ME

Spray me often and water me from below. Leave me in a basin to soak for a few minutes. I also like to be be mounted to a board or hung in a hanging basket. Why? Because, like air plants, us staghorn ferns are epiphytic plants, which means that in we grow on other plants or trees in our natural growing environments.

LIVING WITH PETS AND CHILDREN

I’m safe for pets :)
