Yucca elephantipes is part of the Asparagaceae family and is native to Mexico where it can reach up to 30ft. This type of Yucca lacks spines, leaves are sword-shaped and blue-green in colour.

Secrets to success
Temperature: Can handle temperatures as low as -20°C and as high as 48°C.
Light: Bright direct light and some shade.
Watering: Minimal watering, no more than once a month, allow soil to completely dry out in between waterings.
Air humidity: Low humidity, this plant is used to desert, dry conditions.
Fertilising: A fairly slow growing plant that isn't a heavy feeder; feed every 2 months during growing season, dilute feed to half the recommended amount.
Potting mix: Very well draining mix with loam and sand.
