The Vision: Bringing the Spirit of Kew Gardens Indoors
For our first London-based project, we partnered with Kew Curve, a luxury residential development located just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Royal Botanic Gardens. The brief was to bridge the gap between the lush greenery of the surrounding area and the sleek, modern architecture of the apartment interiors.
Our approach focused on high-impact, sculptural greenery that creates an immediate sense of "home" while maintaining the clean lines of a luxury development
Strategic Plant Selection for London Interiors
To achieve a timeless, sophisticated look that thrives in a residential environment, we curated a palette of hardy yet elegant species:
-
Architectural Kentia Palms: To mirror the Victorian glasshouses of Kew, we installed floor-to-ceiling Howea forsteriana. These palms offer a soft, feathery canopy that adds height and movement to the lobby and communal spaces.
-
Structural Sansevieria: In high-traffic zones and areas with sharp modern geometry, we used various Sansevieria (Snake Plants). These are not only virtually indestructible but act as natural air purifiers, perfect for city living.
-
Custom Planters: We selected neutral, matte-finish containers to ensure the vibrant greens of the foliage remained the focal point.
Why Biophilic Design Matters for London Developments
Incorporating nature into London’s urban landscape is more than just an aesthetic choice; it’s a wellness essential. Biophilic design has been proven to:
-
Reduce Stress: Softening modern interiors with organic shapes.
-
Improve Air Quality: Essential for luxury residences in West London.
-
Increase Property Value: Greenery creates a premium first impression for prospective residents.
