Root Houseplants was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive commercial plant installation and biophilic design scheme for Swan Street House, a premier development of luxury apartments located in central Manchester. The project's success enhances the environment for residents and reinforces the building’s upscale brand.
The core requirement for Swan Street House was to perfectly balance modern, minimalist interior design with the warmth and vitality of nature. This meant introducing high-impact, architectural office plants without cluttering the sleek, communal and client-facing spaces.
Our biophilic design approach focused on selecting premium, structural foliage that would complement the clean lines of the building while ensuring the wellness benefits for residents and visitors were maximized.
Our commercial plant installation scheme was meticulously specified to create several focal points across the communal areas of the Manchester property. We chose plants known for their clean lines and ability to thrive in controlled indoor environments:
Architectural Statement: Large Ficus benjimina and robust Ficus elastica (Rubber Fig) were used as sophisticated, freestanding office plants to add significant vertical interest and natural structure in main lobbies and lounge areas.
Colour and Welcome: The striking Anthurium andreanum was strategically placed in premium planters to introduce vibrant color and a high-end, tropical texture in key entrance points.
The result is a contemporary, inviting atmosphere that contributes to the high standard of living expected by residents.
